Assumptions
The goal of the project was to create a series of short, dynamic and memorable commercial spots for the Dagrasso restaurant network. The key element was the cute and expressive 3D characters, reminiscent of the animation style of Disney movies. These characters were to build a positive image of the brand, attracting attention from customers, especially families with children, and encouraging them to visit the restaurant. The spots were to be broadcast on television, internet, and social media, so they had to be adapted to different formats and platforms. It was also important to ensure that the animations were consistent with the overall visual identity of the Dagrasso brand.
Technology & Approach
The project relied on advanced 3D modeling, texturing, animation and rendering techniques. Industry software such as Autodesk Maya and ZBrush were used to create detailed character models, including facial expressions, gestures and distinctive features. Keyframe animation was used to give the characters fluid movements and expressiveness. Particular attention was paid to the stylization of the characters, inspired by classic Disney animations such as "The Lion King" and "Aladdin". References from these films were used to achieve the desired visual effect, including characteristic body proportions, large eyes and expressive facial features. The characters were set in colorful and dynamic scenes, referring to the atmosphere of the Dagrasso restaurant. The Arnold engine, known for its high quality and realistic representation of lighting and shadows, was used for rendering. The whole thing was assembled and refined in a compositing program to achieve a coherent and visually appealing final effect.
